Reforestation
NRG created and maintains the Oxbow Reforestation Project in Shreveport, La.
The project features one of the largest single reforestation efforts on private land in the southeastern United States and is supported by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
This hardwood forest along Bayou Pierre continues to thrive following the planting of thousands of seedlings, including 16 species of native trees. The site includes 60 acres of shallow water wetlands and nearly 2,000 acres of bottomland hardwood forest. Migratory waterfowl, shorebirds, raptors, deer, raccoons, and many small game species now live and thrive within the Oxbow site.
