Our Company imperative to reduce carbon intensity is the rationale behind our RepoweringNRG initiative

At NRG, we believe that global warming is one of the most significant challenges facing humankind—and we want to be a part of the solution. We believe future energy production can be both low carbon and low cost, and we are committed to being among the first power generators to help make this vision a reality. We are not waiting. We are moving clean energy forward now.

Any program to reduce carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions will include investment in developing and deploying no- and low-carbon technologies. Our RepoweringNRG program will allow us to diversify NRG's existing fuel mix and lead the deployment of no- and low-carbon technologies such as wind, solar, biomass and high efficiency natural gas-fueled plants. We are supporting our strategy by investing in green retail and electric vehicle infrastructure services, which will only enhance the adoption of clean energy technologies.

Making our existing generation cleaner by equipping existing power plants with additional technologies to reduce emissions is just as important to our strategy. NRG is investing in additional environmental control equipment at our existing facilities, while taking the lead in developing carbon capture strategies.
